Several months ago, based on a casual tip from a SeeRay Studios executive, about a dozen OuterWorlds citizens
simultaneously powered up their Real Audio players. They witnessed something quite remarkable… the maiden voyage of The Yoshi and PaPu Show . I remember listening to that first show and thinking, “Now THIS is the
cat’s pajamas!!” Little did I know that I had been fortunate enough to witness the birth of yet another social hub of the OuterWorlds community. That night, we all stood back in awe as virtual reality
radio made its' spectacular entrance under the call letters WVRR. The first thing piqued my interest was the fact that I was listening to CD quality music !! This was in sharp contrast to the pleasant,
but limited audio capabilities of the midi format… which to that point had been the only audio game in town. The next area that I found VERY interesting was the fact that now VRDJs were talking to listeners
through the spoken word instead of keyboarded text. This opened up a truckload of communications advancement possibilities. Others obviously felt the same excitement I did that night because, as The Yoshi and PaPu
show was rolled out to more listeners, the demand for WVRR broadcasts caught on like a Texas brush fire. In an amazingly short period of time, WVRR
outgrew the broadcast capabilities of the Real Audio format and converted to the more versatile WINAMP format. Higher Technology Services, the Internet Service Provider for the OuterWorlds universe, effectively meet the increased technical demands spawned by
WVRR broadcasts. HTS continues to capably match the growing needs of WVRR, and the OuterWorlds community at large. Since that single breakthrough show several months ago, WVRR
has experienced an incredible growth spurt in a relatively short period of time. Today, the WVRR family consists of 22 individual shows and 19 VRDJs. Each show has its own flavor, tone and format, making the
WVRR family of shows a wonderfully exciting mix of music, information and entertainment. Several months ago, about a dozen OuterWorlds citizens witnessed the birth of WVRR. And the OuterWorlds
community has been rockin’ since that night. |
