The Easter Egg Hunt

by bow

Easter Egg Hunt, April 4, 1999

W hat an experience!!!!  I couldn’t believe it, I made a simple little suggestion to have an egg hunt, and Little Cupid passed the idea along.

I began to work with Sharsee to create the eggs needed for the hunt, poor Sharsee, little did she know what she was getting into, I didn’t know a thing about creating a 2D object.  What a beautiful lady, to be so patient, when I would keep sending her the files saved incorrectly  ;-)).  Finally, all the eggs were completed, I believe we created about 30 eggs for this hunt, and they were all absolutely beautiful.

The hunt was to take place in both Party and Gallery Worlds, with one hour to hunt in each of those worlds.  Both of the worlds were closed prior to the hunt as to not allow anyone to wonder in to find them before what was later to become “the big hunt”. The prizes for the hunt unbelievable, I didn’t think there would be anything more than VR money given away.  I was so surprised to hear that T-shirts, posters and Citizenship’s where given out.  To be able to describe how happy I was to see a response like that from the staff of OuterWorlds is impossible!

There were two prize eggs one hidden in each world, for finding a prize egg first, the player received a poster.  The person to find the most eggs received a T-shirt and a poster.  The person to guess how many eggs there were got a citizenship and poster.

Finally the day of the hunt arrived, and a day for hiding all those little eggs.  I was to hide them in Gallery World, while Sharsee and Lilli hid them in Party World.  Hiding all those eggs for hours, I don’t know which was more fun, hiding the eggs or watching everyone run around the world to find them.  It took hours to hide all those little eggs.  Finally sitting back relaxing, and working on another project, Sharsee asks me if I am ready to begin the hunt.  I am totally taken by surprise I could not remember what time the hunt was to start, the time had changed the night before, and I was working on a card for her…  I did not know how to respond, I was thinking of everything to buy time, but it was time for the hunt, or what was to become the “mini” hunt.

I made the announcement in Imagica, and we gathered all into Gallery for the hunt, about 15 minutes into the hunt Sharsee realized we started the hunt several hours early.  All the players were so patient and kind.  Texabeth won a Poster for finding the most eggs in the mini hunt.  Sharsee and I were to move all the eggs in Gallery world.

Finally the time for the big hunt.  I flew up to 90 meters and looked down to watch everyone run around the worlds to find the eggs.   To have Joker o whisper to me, I’ve found 20 eggs I know I’ve found them all.  All I could do is laugh, and say keep looking.  I knew I hid 60 eggs in Gallery.  To hear someone say I’ve found them all, was so funny.  Keep looking, Keep looking is all I could say.  Every now and then someone would slip and give the location of their eggs away I could imagine all the players writing that one down quickly.

As the hunt drew closer to a close I had to take a picture of what was going on:

EEgghunt

Then the hunt was over, and the worlds closed so that the eggs could be removed.

The winners of the hunt were:

Eeggwin

The players were fun to watch and listen to, and I hope that they had a great time, as most of them were diligently looking for eggs, too busy to talk…

All I can say is thank you to the team of OuterWorlds to allow me to be a part of this event.
