Jeddak Kantos Kan Interview
JedraJanzaShamal:Thank you Jeddak Kantos Kan for allowing me to interview you for the Outerworlds Newz.
Jeddak KantosKan:It is my pleasure always good to help a starving reporter.
JedraJanzaShamal:*laughs*
JedraJanzaShamal:I am curious how long have you been a citizen of the Outerworlds Universe?
Jeddak KantosKan:About 6 years now.
JedraJanzaShamal:Wow! So almost at its beginning then?
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes not long after it started.
JedraJanzaShamal:Was Outerworlds Universe your first experience with a 3D chat?
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes it was.
JedraJanzaShamal:What drew you here in the first place?
Jeddak KantosKan:Dancing.
JedraJanzaShamal:Dancing?
Jeddak KantosKan:What I meant is it was by accident.
Jeddak KantosKan:I did an online search for online dance lessons.
Jeddak KantosKan:And when I clicked my search result it bought me to Outerworlds.
Jeddak KantosKan:I was totally clueless as to where I was.
JedraJanzaShamal:Did you learn to dance?
Jeddak KantosKan:Well here I am, a flawless dancer.
JedraJanzaShamal:Uh hum, yes I see that. (He was doing a little dance routine for me at this point)
JedraJanzaShamal:What kept you here?
Jeddak KantosKan:I think it was ripple and everyone else who was here.
JedraJanzaShamal:Ah yes ripple our resident turtle in OW.
JedraJanzaShamal:Did ripple dance with you? lol
Jeddak KantosKan:Not hardly but he did give me a few drinks.
JedraJanzaShamal:lol
Jeddak KantosKan:And I found Barsoom here.
JedraJanzaShamal:Aha that was my next question.
JedraJanzaShamal:Had you heard of Barsoom before entering here?
Jeddak KantosKan:I had read the books years before.
Jeddak KantosKan:it actually surprised me to see the name in the worlds list
JedraJanzaShamal:The Edgar Rice Burroughs books, The Martian Tales?
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes those are the ones.
JedraJanzaShamal:They are a great read aren't they?
Jeddak KantosKan:Probably one of the greatest escapes from reality I ever picked up and read.
JedraJanzaShamal:Who was the first Barsoomian you met when entering Barsoom?
Jeddak KantosKan:Sola Ptor aka Rosey
Jeddak KantosKan:She actually explained the ropes of Outerworlds to me.
JedraJanzaShamal:That is always so important I think and Sola Ptor is a great one to help others that way.
JedraJanzaShamal:Did she convince you to become Barsoomian?
Jeddak KantosKan:No, it was Ras Thavas who did that.
JedraJanzaShamal:Oh yes, Ras Thavas. Was he the leader of Barsoom at that time?
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes he was the vision behind Barsoom and Jeddak.
JedraJanzaShamal:So you fit right in? And how did you become an Odwar?
Jeddak KantosKan:Well that is a bit complicated I didn’t build or make objects so I didn’t fit in.
JedraJanzaShamal:I am sure the readers are curious if you could take the time to tell us.
Jeddak KantosKan:What I could do was spark role-play at the drop of a hat.
JedraJanzaShamal:Another important part of being a Barsoomian then.
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes being Barsoomian is like putting on a mask at Halloween.
Jeddak KantosKan:It was during one of many battles that I was promoted to Odwar.
JedraJanzaShamal:So the Jeddak hands out the promotions to the warriors or the military of Barsoom?
Jeddak KantosKan:He can, as he is the head of the military.
Jeddak KantosKan:It is normally done by lesser ranks.
Jeddak KantosKan:Jeddak Ras Thavas promoted me to Dwar.
Jeddak KantosKan:And then later to Odwar.
JedraJanzaShamal:I see. What were some of your responsibilities as Odwar?
Jeddak KantosKan:I setup flier towers with routes to be guarded, set Kadars to guard the cities, trained Dwars under me.
Jeddak KantosKan:I led many battles against Warhoons, and pirates who kidnapped members from our cities.
JedraJanzaShamal:*shudders at the mention of Warhoons*
Jeddak KantosKan:And most importantly I avoided being joined.
JedraJanzaShamal:I have noticed that. Like a Jasoomian (earth person) you are sworn to being a bachelor?
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes mainly due to personal preference. I am spontaneous and would not like to ask a wife permission to go to battle in the middle of the night.
JedraJanzaShamal:I understand completely.
JedraJanzaShamal:I cannot imagine you asking a mate if you could do anything for that matter.
JedraJanzaShamal:*chuckles*
Jeddak KantosKan:Although it would be nice to have someone occasionally to polish my weapons and make my ammunition.
JedraJanzaShamal:Well, you choose to be non mated so unless you capture a prisoner of war that is not likely to happen.
Jeddak KantosKan:Good point
Jeddak KantosKan:*make a note to self, capture Janza during next raid*
JedraJanzaShamal:*yikes*
JedraJanzaShamal:So you were Odwar for how long before you were promoted to Jeddak of Jeddaks?
Jeddak KantosKan:About 2 Jasoomian years, or 2 ords as we would say on Barsoom.
JedraJanzaShamal:And what has become of Ras Thavas?
Jeddak KantosKan:Well being a Jeddak is a huge responsibility.
Jeddak KantosKan:Ras started Outerworlds Barsoom.
Jeddak KantosKan:He and a few others came from active worlds Barsoom.
Jeddak KantosKan:He was the vision behind Barsoom it was his determination and hard work that kept it alive.
Jeddak KantosKan:For those who do not know, when we first started out here, he made all of our avatars which I might add are some of the best I have seen in either Outerworlds or Active Worlds.
JedraJanzaShamal:*nods in agreement*
Jeddak KantosKan:He also made most of the objects that we used up to about 1 year ago.
Jeddak KantosKan:All these years of doing this have taken their toll on him. He is taking a much needed and well-deserved rest.
JedraJanzaShamal:Well that certainly is understandable, as I know he has put a lot of time and work into the creating of Barsoom as well as the BARSMRPG world.
Jeddak KantosKan:So I agreed to become Jeddak and hopefully can carry on his work here.
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes, I originally came up with the idea for the RPG but it was him who made it a reality.
JedraJanzaShamal:How is the Role-play world BRSMRPG coming along in your opinion?
Jeddak KantosKan:I am happy to say it is fantastic. It was and is a lot of hard work by a lot of good folks.
Jeddak KantosKan:It is an evolving process we learn on a weekly basis.
JedraJanzaShamal:Does a person have to be Barsoomian to go into the RPG world?
Jeddak KantosKan:Absolutely not.
Jeddak KantosKan:You only need one thing to go there and one additional thing to succeed.
Jeddak KantosKan:An Outerworlds citizenship to get in and a desire to have fun to actually enjoy all it has to offer.
JedraJanzaShamal:So any Outerworlds citizen can go in and participate in the quests, role-play, fishing, and archery all it has to offer?
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes any Outerworlds citizen is encouraged to come in and give it a try.
JedraJanzaShamal:That is good to know, there seems to have been some confusion about that in the past.
Jeddak KantosKan:And just because you came in this week doesn’t mean it is not different next week.
Jeddak KantosKan:We are constantly improving what is established as well as adding to it.
JedraJanzaShamal:So it really is a world that will always be changing in one way or another?
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes and due to the nature of online gaming we have to change to be competitive. People get bored quickly without change.
JedraJanzaShamal:Yes, there is a lot of competition out there for sure.
JedraJanzaShamal:How many bots are there that run the world?
JedraJanzaShamal:That is a tough question.
Jeddak KantosKan:We have state of the art bots in place designed especially for the RPG environment.
Jeddak KantosKan:It is really one bot with multiple personalities.
Jeddak KantosKan:We currently have about 20 established personalities with the ability to spawn however many we desire.
JedraJanzaShamal:Wow! That is a lot to keep track of
Jeddak KantosKan:But yes one main magsbot.
JedraJanzaShamal:Magsbot? That is the bot created by Magine of Active Worlds?
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes and from my experience by far the best bot available to us in a 3d environment.
Jeddak KantosKan:I have tried Prestons; Xelagots none can compare to even a standard Magsbot and ours is far from standard.
JedraJanzaShamal:Yes, I would have to agree. I marvel all the time at what she can program them to do.
JedraJanzaShamal:If you were going to start this 'dream' of an RPG world over again, what would you do differently or change?
Jeddak KantosKan:You are full of tough questions for me.
JedraJanzaShamal:That is my job tonight *smiles*
Jeddak KantosKan:I would probably solicit more outside help for the group.
JedraJanzaShamal:More help in what way Jeddak? Like builders?
Jeddak KantosKan:We have a small Development team who has spent countless hours
working to bring this into being.
Jeddak KantosKan:We have all had to learn new things; build, animate, codes, texturing, web pages the list of things to be learned and done goes on and on.
Jeddak KantosKan:We all wear many hats so to speak.
Jeddak KantosKan:Perhaps a few carwashes for expenses as well.
JedraJanzaShamal:Is there still a place where we can donate to the cause if you will, to defer some of the expense of the RPG?
JedraJanzaShamal:I imagine there is continually going to be costs pertaining to the bots etc., for maintenance etc?
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes there will always be costs as long as it runs such as new scripts for the bots for new quests we dream up.

JedraJanzaShamal:It has been a very big undertaking is my understanding and also that you all have been very dedicated to getting this up and running.
Jeddak KantosKan:Yes well that is an understatement.
Jeddak KantosKan:I refer to the Barsoomians that are left as core Barsoomians. This project has been a task of love and labor.
Jeddak KantosKan:I would like to take this time to personally thank Outerworlds on behalf of all Barsoom.
Jeddak KantosKan:It was Outerworlds donation of the world that provided a place for all of this to happen.

JedraJanzaShamal:You know Jeddak Kantos Kan; I think we have the greatest universe there is! A lot of nice people here working together to make it fun for everyone.
