Update on the newest LilAcorn sprout.

Lilacorn, her husband, and their 2 year old daughter Mickayla all filed into the Dr's office last week to get a look at their new baby.

Mickayla was excited when they hooked her mommies tummy to the ultra-sound machine that would let her see her new baby brother or sister. When the image appeared on the screen, Mickayla squealed with delight and excitedly jumped up and down and pointed at the baby, happily declaring "There's the baby! Hi baby!"

With 6 female grandchildren in the family, everyone on the Daddies side was hoping the newest lil corn would be a boy, and much to everyone's joy the sonogram revealed the makings of a boy!

This is Lady Vanethica's second grandchild, and she is happy to have a grandson on the way.

Lila has posted the big announcement and a picture, on her online journal at

Custer's Last Stand in Art

OW has always seemed to attract a lot of artists and now we have another artist in our midst. Many of you have met one of our newer citizens Lakewin ... formally known as LazyStich. Lake is a Blackfoot Indian and quite active in chronicling the history of the American Indian tribes, as well as maintaining the traditional forms of Indian art and lifestyle.

Using leather that she hand tans and materials she carefully gathers, Lake makes dolls, authentic leather clothing, moccasins and many other wonderful traditional Indian pieces. Many of her pieces are displayed in galleries all over the United States. Lake does a traditional form of beadwork that uses a technique called the Lazystich ... hence her original name.

She has a great sense of humor, and is an incredibly interesting person to talk with about the American Indian culture.  Her humor came out in a mail she sent me the other day and I thought you might enjoy seeing one of the dolls she made. Below is an excerpt of her mail to me, and a picture of her Custer doll.
*Editors note: Don't even ask!
excerpt: Remember when we were talking the other day and you said you would like to mow down all the men that are irritating you ...... (clears throat) ...... and I brought up Carrie Fisher in the Blues Brothers? *Editors note: I am sure she has me confused with someone else! and besides that ... I already told you! Don't even ask!

Well, I made this doll some time back of Custer. It was at the suggestion of a dark humored friend of mine in Tucson that owns The Grey Dog Gallery. Anyways I have attached a picture of this doll and I think maybe you can appreciate it. The best part of all was that Carrie Fisher bought it! hahahahaha
