Universe Ejections

Universe administrators can directly examine and/or modify the list of IP addresses that have been blocked from access to the universe. This functionality is similar to World Ejections except that the blocks occur at the universe level. Universe-level ejections will block all forms of access to the universe from that IP address, including browsers, world servers, and bots.

Access to the ejection list is provided by the Universe Ejections dialog, accessible from the Options Menu.

This is the blocked IP address, in standard x.x.x.x format. To look up a particular address, simply enter the address here and press the Lookup button. Note that if the last byte of the address is zero, the entire "class C" address is blocked (e.g. if the blocked address is "", this will keep out anyone with an IP address in the range from to

Additional notes about the blocked address can be stored in this field. This field is for user reference only and is not used by Outerworlds.

This field shows the date at which the ejection was first added. It cannot be modified, although deleting an ejection and then adding it back again will effectively reset this field to the current date.

This field shows the date at which the ejection will expire. When an ejection expires, it is automatically removed from the ejection list. To adjust the expiration date, press the Change... button. Note: after changing the expiration date field, you must also press the Change button in order to store the new expiration date on the server, or else the change will not take effect.

Ejections with the expiration date set to Never persist indefinitely.

Looking Up An Ejection

To look up an ejection, simply enter the IP address in the address field and press the Lookup button. You can also use the Previous and Next buttons to scan through all the ejections currently in effect.

Adding A New Ejection

To add a new ejection, simply enter the address, expiration date, and optional comment and press the Add button.

Care should be used when adding new ejections, in particular "Class C" ejections. When adding a new ejection, any users who are in the universe on that IP address will be immediately ejected. "Class C" ejections can potentially block all users from an entire ISP from accessing the universe!

Changing An Existing Ejection

You can also modify the comment or expiration date of an existing ejection. First, look up the ejection by entering the IP address in the address field and pressing Lookup. Then make any desired changes and press the Change button.

Deleting An Ejection

To delete an ejection, simply enter the address in the address field and press the Delete button.
