Alicebot
Xor has created an application that allows J-Alice to login to Outerworlds or Activeworlds. This bot is an AI chat bot that can keep your visitors amused for hours at a time. The bot's brain is created through a series of AIML files that can be edited/created so you can make an entirely new personality for your bot. The possibilites are amazing. These AI bots could be used in RPG worlds, used as barmaids, welcome bots, information bots.. they can have any personality you want!
Tutorials are forthcoming for the creation of AIML but below are some links to things you should read if you want to make your own personality.
AIML Information
Download AIML Sets
AIML sets allow you to change the personality/language of your bot entirely. These sets contain no references to Outerworlds or Activeworlds. I recommend the standard AIML set because that set allows you to use variables for your bot. The ALICE set is Anna specific which means your bot name should be Anna and cannot be changed.
Pandorabots
This site provides a service which allows you to create AIML files and test them. This site is great for making your own bots easily and for testing your creations. It also has a great community that can help you during those times you want to pull your hair out.
AIML Tutorial
This tutorial is Pandorabots specific but if you read it all the way through you'll learn a lot of things about creating your own sets.
AIML Pad
This software lets you create and try out your AIML. I use this program all the time because you can test your AIML straight away. A must for anyone serious about making new bots.
