The Universal Twin Towers

I was invited into Culture to get a sneak preview of the highest building ever created in VR. Ampirilla is the architect of The Universal Twin Towers, two neck-cracking blue towers that stand three times higher than anything else ever built either virtually or in real life.

The Towers

Each tower has 101 floors excluding the pinnacle orb at the top which is used for lighting. The towers stands at an amazing 1132.2m (3,714.5 feet). Previous towers attempts have only reached a mere 333m (1,092 feet) after being thwarted by cell space limitation. Cell space limitation means that only a certain number of objects are allowed into one cell and if you've ever built in some of the public building worlds you're sure to have seen the inspectors 'area full' complaint. I think Amp must have made a deal with the inspector because for some reason it's not yelling at him.

Muses for this build are the famous Malaysian Petronas Twin Towers (designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates), and the New York Trade Centers' Twin Towers. The Malaysian Twin Towers currently hold the titles of 2nd and 3rd tallest buildings in the world. The highest tower in the world is the Taipei 101 which stands at 509m (1,671 feet), still a baby compared to Ampirillas'.

To get around the towers there will be eight elevators but of those only two or three will be available for public service to the observatory bridge and decks. Previous attempts have failed to make a proper interior for the towers meaning that visitors had to manually fly up. The Universal Twin Towers are realistic.. they could work in RL. Ampirilla makes a full study before building anything to ensure accuracy, no shoddy architecture here. If these twin towers were to be built in reality they would hold the title of tallest building for at least 22 years before another building could take it's place.

The Bridge

There is a bridge between the two towers at 291m (955 feet) from which visitors can view the surrounding land. This bridge is similar to the Petronas Twin Tower bridge but surpasses that by having a triple deck visitor floor and a planned 12 floors for maintenance and private use.

The Future

Ampirilla is constantly working so any of these details are subject to change. In the works though is a transport system for Culture which links the towers to other things around the world. He still hasn't decided what kind of transport system but he hinted at some kind of railway. Work is expected to start on the system later in the year. The main feature upon entering the world is the towers public park which is actually behind the towers and not in front of it. The park is to facilitate a global green welcome to visitors when they arrive after opening. The world is to be opened in 2-3 weeks time to the public. For more information please contact Ampirilla but remember he's hard at work so don't flood him with telegrams if possible.
