Welcome to the Outerworlds Development pages. We're a group that wants to push the limits of Outerworlds by creating bot scripts, web scripts, models, avatars and sounds. To the left you'll see links to downloadable items for use by world owners and caretakers. Please note that you will need to have your own custom object path to use the models and avatars in your world.

The AI Alice chat bot is now available for download. This bot is an AI bot that chats to your visitors. You can create whole new personalities for your bot which makes the possibilities endless. You can find out more information about Alicebot by clicking here. For information on download and using and a few tutorials, see the bot page here. Thankyou Xor for all the hard work you've been putting into the bot, you rock!

We also had our first development team meeting yesterday. A few issues were brought up and discussed. You can see the results of the meeting here.

Christopher D has kindly donated some avatars and models which are now available for download. Thankyou very much Christopher D! The Alicebot is still work in progress but judging by the amount of emails Xor has sent me in the last week I think it's fair to say that he's working hard on it and there will be a release in the very near future. The past few weeks I've been unable to access the internet and I came down with the flu so not much action on the web development side of things. I'd like to do something with the banking system of OW but still waiting to hear back about the PHP and MySQL on the OW servers. Will email and find out.

I'm disappointed with the lack of donations... there are so many talented people out there in the OW universe but for some reason they don't want to share their creations with the universe. Kinda sucky but I'll keep nagging them :o).

I've been working on a webscript in PHP to organize models. Basically you can run the script and get all of your models listed in a database and then you can categorize the models. The whole idea is to create a catalog of your models similar to a shopping catalog. If you have a public build world then a good object listing is essential. People need to know what they can build with.

The original idea was to store the actual models in a database and generate them on the fly. With a system like that it would be easy to modify existing objects or copy and change them. Deleting objects would be as simple as clicking a button. The first attempt was with over 11,000 objects in the path which causes problems because the database cannot be searched fast enough. With running a few queries it came down to 1.2 seconds per object, which any world owner knows is too slow. I have no doubt that with smaller object paths or a faster server this script would work perfectly. Anyone interested in trying out the scripts with their world let me know via the contact page.
